Professional experience:
since 1990 - university assistant, lecturer, and associate professor at the University of Bucharest, Faculty of Foreign Languages, Section for Translation, Interpretation and Terminology. Coordinator of the inter-departmental section STIT between 1992 – 2003). Director of European MA Programme in Conference Interpretation.

Translation. Programme initiator of the MA in Translation Studies and Specialized Terminology (2002-2005).

Translation work for various institutions:
UNDP, USAID, Ministry of the Environment, National Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office, Ministry of European Integration, National Agency of Pharmaceuticals, documents of the Acquis Communautaire (translation and proofreading for the contracting firm in Romania, DIAMONDO, between 2003 – 2005).

Interpretation experience:

Over 20 years’ experience in translation and interpretation (consecutive and simultaneous) at various international conferences, seminars, and congresses (under the aegis of international organisations, e.g. UNO (UNHCR), UNESCO, USAID, UNDP, EU, PHARE Programmes, National Agency for Regional Development, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, CRANSMONTANA, CIC, Business Center of WTC, Bucharest, Sofitel, etc.), NIM (National Institute of Magistracy), several interpretation assignments abroad.
Recent international events: Autumn, 2005: EU seminars in Food Industry, Animal Husbandry, Justice and Home Affairs; K. Adenauer Foundation: Justice Reform Policies and Combat against Corruption (Norway’s example) Lustration Law (best practice in Central And Eastern Europe) – Bucharest: September, October.
Spring, 2006: Private-Public partnership in the SME’s (conference on tripartite association), EC/National Office joint meeting on Fight Against Corruption (National Office of Combat against Corruption and Money Laundering Crimes); Market liberalization – organized by FinMedia (Bucharest), 4th Black Sea Energy Conference (BSEC, The Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Bucharest and the USAID).

Work experience abroad

(conference interpreting): 1995, 1997 – Vienna (Austria); 1998: Ljubliana (Slovenia); (1998) – Helsinki (Finland); 1999: Delphi (Greece); Bled (Slovenia); 2000 – Sofia (Bulgaria); 2002, 2003 (January, Istanbul, Turkey); Malta (OLAF- Risk Analysis Seminar), 2004; ILO Conference, Thessaloniki (March, 2006), OLAF/Stability Pact/SECI Conference in Tirana (Albania): 6-7th of April, 2006, Cybercrime Training for Prosecutors and Judges, 22 – 24 May 2006, Bucharest.

A- Romanian; B – English; C – French; D – Spanish (according to EU criteria)
Membership in professional associations: member of ESSE, founding member and former president of ARIC (2002-2005); member in the ARIC executive board (“Asociatia Romana a Interpretilor de Conferinta”, running according to the professional code of ethics – quite similar to the AIIC Code of professional conduct).
