Then he added: “ Of course, what we found out , Miss Emily, all of that, it doesn’t change anything about Ruth. She wanted the best for us at the end. She really wanted the best for us.”

Statea intins pe pat si continua sa se holbeze la tavan pentru ceva timp, inainte sa spuna : “ Nostim, pentru ca ieri ma gandeam la acelasi lucru. Ceea ce trebuie sa-ti aminteasca de Ruth, cand vine vorba despre lucruri ca astea, este ca ea era intotdeuna diferita de noi. Tu si eu, chiar de la inceput, chiar de cand eram mici, incarcam mereu sa descoperim lucruri. Iti aduci aminte Kath de toate discutiile acelea secrete pe care le aveam? Dar Ruth nu era asa. Ea intotdeauna a vrut sa creada in lucruri. Asa era Ruth. Deci, da, intr-un fel cred ca e cel mai bine cum s-a intamplat”. Apoi a adaugat : Bineinteles, domnisoara Emily, tot ceea ce am aflat, nu schimba nimic la Ruth. Intr-un final ea ne-a vrut binele. Chiar ne-a vrut binele.
