RUTH O’CALLAGHAN

     The Romanian Cultural Institute made the poets extraordinarily welcome from the initial greeting at the door to a brilliant concert at the end of the reading. They provided a panelled room which lent a gravity to the proceedings although this was somewhat counter-acted by the flowing wine. The poets, naturally, were all completeyl different but the response of the audience to each was extremely appreciative. The translators, Elena and Lavinia, were magnificent in adapting to each poet's style and made this a truly memorable evening.
